October 2026 update.
Thank you for your thousands of individual responses to the 2026 Local Plan (Regulation 18 stage), using the information below, which were sent via Save Hertsmere earlier in 2026.
This consultation has now closed.
The next step in this process is a revised Plan, that should take into account these and other responses.
This revised Plan has now been published (Regulation 19 stage). The consultation at this later Regulation 19 stage does not allow a revisit of the earlier plan, but must focus on how those responses at the Regulation 18 stage were taken in account at this Regulation 19 stage.
Save Hertsmere will be responding, on your behalf, to the Regulation 19 consultation in November 2026.

Why this matters...
Greenbelt loss: The greenbelt was created to prevent urban sprawl by keeping green buffers between settlements. It is the lungs of London and prevents urban sprawl.
Threat to the natural environment: The destruction of our green areas means a loss of natural habitats and is a threat to wildlife.
Loss of Farmland: Means a loss of local produce
Climate Crisis: How will we ever meet our carbon reduction commitments if we concrete over our green fields?
Pollution: Created by traffic from the many thousands of new homes, with no sign of better roads either.
Infrastructure: Pressure on roads, schools, trains & medical services, with no agreed plan to provide these.
Out of date: Housing demand has actually fallen according to government data and housing targets are being changed.
Please remind your Councillors of their promises to protect ur Green Belt
